As Seen on Etsy: USB Typewriter

I was watching the Maker Faire episode of Martha Stewart yesterday and saw too many awesome inventors to count... and then I saw the inventor of the USB Typewriter. And I am still in awe. Jack Zylkin has turned those awesome vintage typewriters we see in so many wedding shoots lately, into totally function keyboards for your computer or iPad! I am head over heels for his idea of mixing two completely different generations into one awesome product. Holy cow! It is quite the splurge to buy an already converted typewriter, but he also offers converter kits if you or your beau are the DIY techy type! If you can afford to drop the time or cash, what an interesting guestbook this would make! The perfect compromise if you love your vintage finds and your fiance loves anything technological. Sound familiar, anyone?

Etsy Wedding: Whimsical Peacock Blue, Magenta & Vibrant Green

I am so obsessed with deep, dark peacock blue right now. Not the feathers, just that awesome blue color. Aside from it being the perfect color for my future dining room walls, it makes a great base for a wedding, especially when paired with a magenta or raspberry pink (a.k.a. my future dining room chairs) and maybe a little green too. I felt a little whimsical when creating this palette, the flower wands, mismatched tags and those oh so awesome flower books for centerpieces! I love the idea of a colored crinoline peaking out from under a bride's dress, don't you? And those little dollops of heaven in the bottom right corner? Key lime white chocolate clouds. Mhmm, I think dessert is calling my name!

Color Inspiration: A Fall Wedding with Pumpkins & Eggplant

Fall has sprung here quite suddenly and now that it's October, I figured it was about time to post a little autumn inspiration. Today's palette combines punches of pumpkin and pops of another great fall hue... eggplant. I about flipped when I saw the pumpkin as a soup bowl idea in my Martha wedding emails! How awesomely October, no? Long tables with burlap runners, loads of candles and purple hued flowers... perhaps a few mini pumpkins in there too! Vintage sodas in perfect season colors and garlands of leaves to frame a photobooth. For favors? I would love to see mini pumpkins with simple pumpkin carving kits.. how fun is that!?

Notable's on color overload today with gingham, seersucker and damask ties galore! The best part? These ties are for the little ones in your wedding. Yep, Baby by Stevie creates all these super fab, completely adorable accessories for those younger folk! I can't even handle the vibrant gingham, or that seersucker.. it is just too cute in miniature form! Of course, there are a ton of other prints to obsess over too... so head on over to their Etsy shop for more kid fashion!

Etsy Wedding: Bold Black & White with Pops of Color

Inspired by yesterday's As Seen on Etsy feature, I'm going for bold, graphic black and white prints as today's jumping off point. Isn't that black & white chevron flower girl dress to die for!? Mix up bold stripes, houndstooth and anything else eye-popping for your vases. Or, just buy plain white ones and paint your own patterns on them! Since we're prepping for fall, I thought this wedding was perfect for a slight apple motif, perhaps in your centerpieces, or just as your place cards and cake topper. Don't forget bright red flowers and modern cupcake toppers to seal the deal! (Yes, I did suggest a cake topper and cupcake toppers... there's nothing wrong with both!)

I am not usually one to like wreathes, but I saw these by Knock.Knocking and now I'm a changed girl! Not your traditional wreath, and certainly not a typical wedding item... I had to do a post on these as a great option for a shower gift or even a little something extra on the doors of your ceremony or reception site! I'm head over heels for the striped ones and the colors are almost too much for me to handle! They are just so fantastic! A little eye candy for your door!

Color Inspiration: Modern Pink and Gray

I have pink on my mind today. Largely due to the fact that my cousin is engaged as of yesterday (Insert screams and squeals here!) and, well, she has a bit of an obsession with pink! So, low and behold... a modern pink and gray wedding. J. Crew came through with an wow-oh-wow gray bridesmaid dress (Aren't you in love with it??). Pretty pink peonies or carnations with gray linens, and little pops of hot pink... like in straws for mini milkshakes, or decor for your dessert bar. I love the simple DIY-style chair accent... how easy and cute would that be for an extra little touch!? A touch of romance and a whole lot of modern, perfect for any season, no? Love!

It's time for the big ol' news I've been talking about for the past week and I'm so excited, I could faint! Through the Renegade Craft Fair, I was able to meet a few of the people at my all-time favorite, most admired company... Etsy! And, I have been lucky enough to be asked to do a blog post for, yes, the Etsy blog!!!! (Insert squeal here.) Since I love working on my all-Etsy weddings for Notable, it was only fitting to do two very special ones for Etsy, and winter wedding-ers you are in luck.... Etsy Wedding {Book Week}: Dark Romance from Jane Eyre

When I say book week, something has to be from that romantic, Victorian era that I lust after. And while most turn to Pride & Prejudice or something of that fantastic sort... I wanted to take a little turn toward the darker, gothic era with this one. Enter Jane Eyre. Such a dynamic, twisted classic that, well, doesn't really scream wedding, but certainly makes a beautiful one if you're willing to take the risk. Think romantic tea party with a dark side. And, luckily, I could count on my trusted Etsy vendors to provide the rest...

Dark charcoals and deep roses with a hint of victorian lace and that green you only picture when you envision this distinct era. I have no problem seeing a bouquet of delicate dried flowers (This can be done with appropriate treatment!), or at least dried petals for the flower girl to throw. Antiqued gold jewelry and lace cuffs complement a stunning and functional cape for those winter weddings! Perhaps a little monogram green cufflinks for the men?

I would forgo fresh flowers for dried petals and brass and golden vessels of all sorts. Long tables strung with these mismatched containers and non-traditional florals atop dark hued runners would be oh so perfect for the mood that the attire has already set. Purchase a handmade leather journal for your guest book and provide primrose-infused soap for favors.

Color Inspiration {Book Week}: A Madeline Inspired Wedding

In an old house in Paris that was covered with vines, lived twelve little girls in two straight lines. Now... you can't tell me that doesn't bring back fond memories? If you're liked me you loved all things Madeline (Hey, I even had a fantastic Madeline themed birthday one year!) and, if you've been hanging around Notable for awhile, you'll know I am an advocate for keeping your childhood loves alive and kicking long past those years of innocence. Madeline's mix of youthfulness and innocence against a backdrop of Parisian romance makes quite the jumping off point for a wedding... and here we go!

Well, first thing's first.. you have to wear a hat. The hat. The brim, the bow, the works. Dresses can be simple and subtle with pops of red shoes (and some rain boots to change into for fun pictures!). Why not have the flower girl carry a small suitcase instead of a flower basket (maybe not as practical, but certainly just as cute!)? Navy bouts and yellow bouquets. Your attire is where you can really play up those primary colors Madeline is known for!

An ivy covered backdrop for your nuptials or an ivy covered trellis above your reception would really bring in that classic, beautiful aspect we all know and love about the books. Attach a found objection (all different, of course) to each place card along with a Madeline-esque bow and hang them on string or tacked to a bulletin board for a fun and vintagey place card display. Place eye-popping yellow arrangements down the center of long tables (in two straight lines...), with mismatched China, as if you had just robbed a French bistro.  And, what else but French pastries for dessert? Provide red tins for guests to take home what they couldn't eat, and tie a little tag on each saying "Merci Beaucoup!"

Etsy Wedding: Summery Peaches to Fall Browns & Greens

It's that time of year... ya know, when we make that transition into fall. It's kind of bittersweet because while I hate saying bye to the warm weather and hello to the cold, I do love the opportunity to wear boots again! Today's Etsy wedding bridges the gap between those beautiful, romantic summery shades (like peach in this case) and those browns and greens you only find when fall comes around. Perfect for early September weddings, pair beautiful peach colored blooms and summery accessories with acorn accented elements like cupcake toppers and a nest-like ring bearer bowl! Incorporate branches into your centerpieces and if you can, say your I do's outdoors, preferably under a canopy of trees draped in garlands with leaves just waiting to jump right into their fall glory!

I'm finally back! It's been quite the crazy two weeks in my life moving from Los Angeles back to the east coast but I am finally settling back down and ready to bring you all some more inspiration. PLUS I have some very exciting news that I'll be sharing with you all next week, so be sure to stay tuned! Anyway, what better a form of inspiration to start out with than these fantastic shoe clips by Etsy vendor LemonRing? All made of ultra-femme fabrics like chiffon and mesh, I bet you can find a color you like! I, of course, am in love with the nude color and that fantastic yellow... boy am I predictable huh? But they all make me want to fancy up my shoes a bit and they are all a great way to turn a comfortable (but not so pretty) wedding shoe into one you can walk in, and show off!

Etsy Wedding: A Sunny and Bright Wedding with Aqua & Yellow

A little inspiration from the sky and the sun today... since I'll be missing endless days of sunshine when I head back to the east coast's not-so-perfect-weather next week. Since this was in fact inspired by the sky, I added a bird motif for a little whimsical fun. Gotta go with one of my favorites... yellow billy balls for florals, in aqua vases (spray paint always works to turn all sorts of vases into a uniform set!). Sweet cake stands to hold your mini-bunting adorned desserts and graphic stationery for a modern touch. For favors give those awesome blank notebooks... and even customized pencils if you'd like! Ahhh there's nothing better than blue skies and sunshine!

It was love at first sight when I saw Kiki La Rue's cake bunting on Design*Sponge. Seriously, mini bunting atop a cake? It is too, too good to be true. For those who are eco-conscious, all the adorable bunting is made from vintage and recycled fabric, so there's another excuse to fall in love. How perfect for a bridal shower or a wedding dessert bar? I may need to throw a party just so I can buy these! Which one is your favorite?

Color Inspiration: A Winter Wonderland Wedding

It may be summer, but there's nothing wrong with thinking a little ahead right? You have to after all in this industry! Today's color inspiration is all about a luscious winter wonderland. A lot of winter brides tend towards deep jewel tones (Lots of red, red, red!) but my favorite winter weddings are the ones inspired by the beautiful whites, creams and silvers you see pop up during the wintertime. If you choose pure white for your gown, put your 'maids in daring ivory and creams. Or, if you choose an ivory dress the girls can wear all sorts of shades of gray (that goes for the groomsmen too!). Ivory-hued flowers against dusty miller (Ok, any plant that can bring the color gray to a palette is alright in my book!) set in wallpaper wrapped vases. A few silver votive holders too and pretty pastries for dessert. Drape something, like the cake table or even the whole room, in airy cream colored fabrics. Present your favors in dynamic, monochromatic boxes with any and every detail you can compile. To get the true wonderland feel, layer whites creams and grays wherever you can, with whatever you can!

Etsy Wedding: An Art Inspired Wedding

Lately I've been longing for those days when I actually had time to sit down and sketch or paint. (Will there ever be enough hours in the day?) So, I'm living vicariously through this Etsy wedding which is all about bright colors, paint splatters and everything in between. This is for the art loving couple that isn't afraid of bright hues and doesn't want anything to do with tradition. Why not boast a bouquet of Sola wood flowers. Yes, I said wood flowers. Pop your shoes, and his tie, with some splatters and get those 'maids in the brightest thing you can find. Mini wooden paint palettes for placecards and those awesome paint-swatch books for favors. Name each table after a different and unique hue and paint a mini canvas to step-in as a pseudo table number. Of course, what could be more perfect a wedding then this for an art inspired guest book? Blow up a picture, print the outline on a canvas, grid it and have each guest paint their own square. Tada! A painter's paradise!

Color Inspiration: A Rehearsal Dinner Picnic

There's never very much rehearsal dinner love on wedding blogs so today's post, while it could most certainly work for a wedding, is ideal for a casual, outdoor rehearsal dinner picnic! I told you yesterday that I fell in love with these screen-printed place mats so they were the inspiration for today! I love the idea of stacking a bunch of crates or picnic baskets and filling them with everything you'd need for the perfect picnic! Place mats, wooden utensils, drinkware, the works! A few tables and benches, maybe some simple garlands or strands of lights and a fan to keep everyone cool. The perfect time to relax and enjoy your company, before the {often} hectic day-of!

The Renegade Craft Fair: Los Angeles

I caught a glimpse of heaven yesterday. Heaven, to me, comes in the form of over 200 incredibly talented and undeniably creative crafters, apparently. Los Angeles was happily invaded by the Renegade Craft Fair, and sponsored by my other true love, Etsy, I had to attend! In short... it knocked. my. socks. off. I was able to meet a few faces behind some very familiar names and I was introduced to a TON of new Etsy vendors that will probably be popping up in my upcoming As Seen on Etsy & Etsy Wedding posts. Luckily I had my resident photographer along with me to capture a few of my favorite {and wedding perfect} booths.

I made my first purchase at by belinda, who makes the sweetest hand embroidered cards for her Etsy shop (Perfect for thank you notes and bridesmaid gifts!). At the craft fair she was also selling scrap packs, which is what I purchased with all sorts of little scrapbooking goodies like ticket stubs, paper swatches and ribbon trimming. How could I resist?

Chandra Abel Designs had a booth that caught my eye. She was showcasing her sustainable terrariums, in all shapes and sizes, and all I could think about was a Palm Springs wedding with these as centerpieces. That is, centerpieces that don't get tossed in the trash after the wedding. Bonus!

These next few pictures are a little blurry (I pulled them from my Flip cam) but I just couldn't leave this booth out! I was so surprised and ecstatic to see Oh, Hello Friend, a blog I have long been following, with a booth of their own! I found these buttons and pocket mirrors and would love to see them used as placecards turned favors or goodies in a bridesmaid gift basket. 

I flipped over these place mats from i am dorkas! Hello outdoor picnic wedding! 

Ticings was a product I was longing to see in person. They are essentially edible stickers that you can slap on top of cupcakes, cookies and other confections for the perfect finishing touch. Guess what? They are even customizable!

The Poster List has been popping up at many events I've gone to this summer and I finally got the chance to purchase something! The prints are so original, one of the large ones would make a great guest book alternative, or buy several small ones to incorporate into your table numbers!

Yup, I had to include that Frenchie! But seriously, you have to, have to, have to see the rest of Sycamore Street Press's products, it was hard to resist all the letterpress awesomeness!

If you are so upset you missed it after seeing this post (or, if your so sad its over, like me), have no fear! The Renegade Craft Fair will be continuing its tour this summer and fall in San Francisco and Chicago! If you don't live in or near those cities, get those tickets booked or that road trip planned because you really cannot miss this!
